FAQ
Questions about listening vs therapy
01Is it okay to want someone to talk to without starting therapy?
Yes. Plenty of people want to be heard without a diagnosis, a treatment plan or a clinical record. Wanting to talk is reason enough.
02What is the difference between a listener and a therapist?
A therapist is a licensed professional who assesses, diagnoses and treats mental health conditions. A listener gives you their full attention, helps you make sense of what you are carrying, and offers honest input and practical next steps to help you move forward.
03How do I know whether I need therapy or someone to listen?
If symptoms are persistent, getting worse, or affecting your sleep, work or safety, start with a doctor or therapist. If you are carrying everyday weight and want space to talk, listening may be enough.
04Can Listening Turtle replace my therapist?
No. If you already see a therapist, keep doing so. Some people use listening between sessions or while on a waiting list.
05Will Phalguni tell me if I should see a professional?
Yes. If what you share sounds like it needs clinical care, she will say so honestly and point you toward qualified help.
06How do I start?
Send a short request with what is on your mind and when you are free. You will get an email confirming your session time and Google Meet link.
